PMMA – (Polymethylmethacrylate)

PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) is a thermoplastic plastic also known by the names Perspex, Plexiglas, Altuglas, Oroglas, or simply acrylic glass. PMMA is a polymer of methyl methacrylate and is often used as a substitute for glass. This is because PMMA offers both higher clarity and allows a higher percentage of light transmission compared to glass. PMMA provides transparency up to 92%, whereas typical insulated glass offers 90% transparency. Additionally, PMMA possesses other unique material properties. It is resistant to UV radiation, can be easily thermally formed when heated (thermoplastic), and is lighter in weight compared to glass. Furthermore, its edges can be polished easily and effectively.
Product Range of Profilplast in PMMA
Profilplast offers an extensive range of PMMA sheet materials. Thanks to the material’s light weight, it is widely used in applications where weight reduction compared to its counterpart, glass, is a key consideration. Moreover, PMMA is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, making it versatile across various industries.
